We are dedicated to making this the most professional and exciting GPC weigh off.
With $7,500 cash prize and tons of spectators this championship level event is here to honor the time and effort put in to grow a giant pumpkin. How big will the U.S. National Champion be…1000 LBS, 2000 LBS or event bigger!

Jack O’Lantern World in 2024 is all about giant real pumpkins. Get tickets for Jack O’Lantern World on October 7th to see All Community Events’ Pumpkin Weigh Off U.S. National Championship competition in addition to walking the path through the 1000’s of hand carved Jack O’lanterns. The weigh will occur right next to the new GiGi’s Playhouse Phase 3 Beer Garden. Here you will see some of the Nation’s largest pumpkins compete to be crowned the one and only U.S. National Champion!

THE COMPETITION

If you are a giant pumpkin grower we invite you to the Pumpkin Weigh Off National Championships. At our championships we seek to honor the time and effort put in by giant pumpkin growers with a big cash prize and a competition show cased in front of 1,000’s of spectators.

WHAT TO EXPECT

ADVENTURE

Journey through 15 magical themed worlds of hand carved Jack O’ Lanterns designed by local artists throughout the Chicagoland area.

DATE NIGHT

Enjoy a romantic stroll through the illuminated one of a kind creation making this an experience you truly will never forget.

BRING THE KIDS

A (not scary) Halloween tradition the whole family can enjoy!

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

Enjoy some food, Grab some sweets for the kids, or enjoy an adult beverage all served by some of your favorite local vendors. You will be able to see a food truck schedule below closer to opening night.

What is Jack O' Lantern World?

This October gather your friends and family and take a journey through the “Jack O’ Lantern World” experience. Walk a 3/4 mile long trail through 1000’s of Jack O’Lanterns hand carved by local artisans. Experience our one of a kind whimsical celebration of art, nature & fall.

Results

CASH PRIZE

Prize Breakdown Purse Breakdown:
1st – $4,000
2nd – $2,000
3rd $1,500

Prize money will be awarded to the largest pumpkins based on weight.

Prize money will be forfeited if pumpkin is given to the event to be put on display and carved for the event which runs through the remainder of October.

We will provide a seed removal service free of charge with photos of pumpkin so grower can see the inside of pumpkin and that seeds were thoroughly removed at the time the pumpkin is carved into a jack o’lantern. Seeds will be sent in an expedited manner so grower receives seeds within one to two days of shipping.

Any Pumpkins not picked up by October 31 will be disposed of.

COMPETITION RULES

• Contest is an Official GPC Weigh-Off Site and will follow GPC rules.
• Each contestant is limited to having one entry (one pumpkin) weighed.
• In the event of a tie, prize money will be divided between the tied positions. (if two tie for 1st place 1st place $4,000 and 2nd place $2000 will be divided and each will receive $3,000.
• Winners will be determined by the weight displayed on scales.
• Pumpkins must be in healthy and undamaged condition, free of rot, holes and cracks through the cavity, chemical residue, and soft spots.
• The vine must be trimmed to one inch from the stem. No foreign material is permitted in the weighing.
• All pumpkins will be weighed without the use of tarps or other carrying devices.
• The top 3 pumpkins are required to remain Jack O lantern World through the end of October.

Note:
All participants must arrive 2 hours prior to the beginning of weigh-offs to check in.

Competitor Parking Instructions:
1. Park in East lot.
2. Check in at entrance gate red tents identified in the map below by the green circle that says enter here.
3. Unload pumpkin after you have checked in.

Spectator Parking Instructions:
1. Park in West lot only. (*See step 3)
2. Use above address for navigation. Do not use Paulus Park address.
3. Do not park in East lot unless you need an accessible parking spot, are an elder person or an expecting mother.
4. Follow the red dotted line on the map below to the entrance gates.
5. Use extreme caution crossing RT 12.
